No game is more hyped than the "rematch written in the stars" between #2 Alabama and #1 LSU.

Here we are again with the distended college bowl season. With 35 bowls, Blue House Sports had to narrow down the field to only the most elite 20+ bowls. The most elite, of course, being the BCS National Championship rematch between SEC West foes, Alabama and LSU. Alabama proves to be only the second team to appear in the championship game without winning their own division in their own conference. Nebraska did it a decade ago, and they were systematically crushed by the Ken Dorsey-led Miami Hurricanes. Will history repeat itself? Does the Tide have an answer for one of the most dominating defenses to ever invade college football. If not, the scene will be a desolate field with only Nick Saban and a box of Little Debbies to comfort him.

NEW YORK – This evening, the Heisman Trust will present the Heisman Memorial Trophy Award for the 77th time in honor of the nation’s most outstanding collegiate football player. Last year, everyone under the sun knew who was going to win once Cam Newton walked in the door. This season, however, is far different. From the beginning, speculation for the award has been at a fever-pitch, as not one candidate has been able to separate himself as a solid front-runner.

So, so far so good. The Jets and Cheatriots are inverted as division winners and Wild Card as are the Cowboys and Giants. Granted the Giants are a game back in the Wild Card, but I don’t see the Bears making the playoffs with Caleb Hanie.

The Bills started off 3-0. Now they sit at 5-6. That’s 2-6 in their last 8. They sit 2 games out of the Wild Card behind Cincinnati. Although having lost to the Bengals they truly sit 3 games out. They host a Titans team find themselves in a similar situation. Tennessee sit at 6-5 and are a game behind the Bengals, also having lost to the Bengals. This is a must win for the Titans and the Bills are pretty much playing spoiler with only 5 left. CJ2K finally had a game worthy of his resume last week vs the Bucs, and should he keep pace, the Titans stay alive another week.

Georgia's Aaron Murray would love nothing more than to cap off the season with a SEC Championship and a Sugar Bowl berth.

ATLANTA – LSU is one game away from clinching a spot in the BCS National Championship. With the caustic nature of this year’s season, the BCS could exacerbate it by placing the SEC’s LSU against the SEC’s Alabama. This game would be the first time two teams from the same conference have met in the National Championship Game.

There is, however, one obstacle left for the Bayou Bengals: the Georgia Bulldogs. And the Bulldogs are hot. They’ve won ten straight and look to complete an improbable season by stealing an SEC Championship from the favored Tigers. BATON ROGUE, La. – Now, that the BCS is essentially the SEC West, the nation can prepare for the sixth straight national champion from the SEC. With LSU and Alabama playing better than anyone in the country, a rematch is not only inevitable but necessary. This game wouldn’t matter. You know the 5-4 Raiders playing the 2-7 Vikings. However the Raiders are in first place, and with the Chargers and Broncos both favored to lose this week, this could be their best chance to gain some ground. Great offense, OK Defense meets Great Defense, Adrian Peterson. So it should be a pound it out kinda game. I don’t expect either team to break 30. I’m going Vikings.

Tennessee Titans @ Atlanta Falcons
Last week the Falcons made the bonehead move of the year to lose to the Saints in Overtime. That puts them in must win territory to stay close in the South, AND the Wild Card. (looking at 10 wins for a hope to get either.) The Titans are 1.5 back in their South but only a game back in the Wild Card a win this week puts them tied with the loser of the Bengals Ravens. (They hold the Tiebreaker over the Ravens and lose it to the Bengals.) So expect them to come out firing in hopes of making the playoffs, while the Falcons will probably slide a game under the pressure.

The Bears made the Lions pay for every mistake last week and no QB has made as many mistakes as Philip Rivers this year. Look for the Chargers to put up close to 400 yards but just under 30 points. Can the Bears match that? Depends on which Jay Cutler shows up. Last week he threw for 121 yards and no TDs. However the San Diego Chargers are renowned for bad Special Teams plays…

Case Keenum is outraged that his team will not go to the national championship. He shouldn't be, though. He plays for the Houston Cougars.

HOUSTON – The Houston Cougars will hit one milestone this season: College GameDay is going to visit. The heralded ESPN crew is visiting the Cougars on Saturday for the “high-profile” match-up with Southern Methodist. Houston is undefeated and touts the best untested quarterback in the country: Case Keenum. With Oklahoma State falling on Friday night to Iowa State, the Cougars think they could sneak into the national championship. This publication says that they can keep on dreaming. A one-loss Alabama would jump them any day. As for Keenum, he may win the Heisman. But, then again, maybe not. He’ll definitely be at the ceremony, though. It may be his first trip to New York.

The Cougars, however, are a favorite to jump into the Sugar Bowl as an at-large. Utah beat Alabama there a few years back. Why couldn’t Houston repeat that fluke.
