Hampton Wins Bracket Challenge

Adding to his many sports accolades, Hampton is now the king of NCAA Basketball.

Now that March Madness is over, the discussion can begin. The tallies have been counted, and Hampton has won the Blue House Bracket Challenge. His 152 points easily trumped Striker’s 138. So, once again, Hampton has bested Striker in a contest of sports prophecy.

“Despite what the reports said,” Hampton stated, “I really had no doubt that I’d win. Striker can hide his bracket all he wants. The truth is, I just know sports better than he does.”

Striker’s bracket had been clad in mystery throughout most of the tournament. Pundits, therefore, tendered speculation that Striker’s bracket would surge forth from the mist and knock off Hampton. Unfortunately for those pundits, and Striker, Hampton still reigns supreme as the king of sports predictions.

“A precedent is definitely being established,” Scooter said. “If he keeps winning, how could any of us muster the will to play on? He’s the Harlem Globetrotters right now. The rest of us limp along as the Washington Generals.”

Hampton, however, displayed the modestly and humility that have defined him as a champion:

“If I really wanted to,” he said, “I could probably go ahead and predict next year’s NCAA Tournament and still score over 150. I don’t even know the field yet, but I could predict it.”

With each Hampton victory, his mark in sports history grows. For competitive reassurance, Scooter was asked whether he had ever witnessed Hampton miss a prediction:

“Only once,” Scooter said. “The famed mathematician and chaos theorist Ian Malcolm asked Hampton to predict what side of his hand a drop of water would roll off. Hampton got the first one right and the next one hundred and seventy-two. But on the one hundred and seventy-fourth time, Hampton shouted left and the water slid right.”

Scooter bowed his head pensively.

“That day was a sad day,” he said. “A triceratops died.”
